ABOUT US

"Committed to building enduring and
transparent relationships between
producers and roasters."
TTCo.

Truth Trading Company was founded by two specialty coffee producers in Guatemala, with the main goal of helping both the Producer and the Buyer obtain a better pricing through 100% transparent negotiation.

The project was born after various discussions of dissatisfaction  with the traditional trading taboos, as well as the desire to build an honest relationship between the producer and the buyer with 100% transparent negotiation guaranteed by the intermediary.

At Truth Trading Company, we  strive to find the perfect match of producer and buyer. As specialty coffee producers, we understand how difficult it is to find, acquire, and maintain these relationships for long periods of time. Therefore as a producer, we can help you improve your coffee quality and achieve your price goals in the long run. As a buyer, we can help you find the perfect coffee at the right and fair price.

After exporting our own products we have noticed that traceability is very important to our clients. We are planning a new level of premium product traceability to be offered as an extra service, which will change the perception of 100% traceability and transparent negotiation.

It does not get simpler than Truth Trading Company! Both parties have the availability to opt for a more complete service that includes   live tracking in order to follow every step of the process. This demonstrates that we truly work for both the producer and the buyer. As part of the work, there are only two things we charge: commission and  the management of export logistics and corresponding documents. , which are always at a flat rate fee.

Through this process we are creating a 100% transparent environment, which eliminates all potential taboos  and builds a direct and honest business relationship.
When it comes to the management of logistics and documents, we can cover many scenarios in order to meet the producer´s and the buyer’s needs. These include managing full containers, consolidating the product with other exporters, and consolidating with other clients.

Help us achieve  our goal of 100% transparent negotiation and traceability at Truth Trading Company, through real direct trade and bilateral hassle free business  for all Guatemalan producers and international buyers.

We made a small selection of the coffees that we marketed this year, to give you as a sample of the coffees we have for you. We would love to visit you and talk more about the project. We hope we can count on you either this or the following year to continue growing our dream of having a 100% transparent negotiations, in which both sides of the chain can help each other and maintain a healthy relationship.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this proposal. We know that, as for us, coffee is your world; so join us in making this world better.

Single origin coffee

Monte de Oro

Located in Acatenango Valley, Mr. Pedro Melendez owner of "El Socorro" inherited his 4 children. One of them my great grandfather, Fidel Melendez, re-named the farm Monte de Oro, inferring to the great fertility of the ground. Then my grandfather Ricardo Melendez inherits the farm and increases the coffee plantation, making the farm single crop. At the same time my grandfather dissatisfied about selling his coffee to our neighbors, Antigua Guatemala, he was convinced about the high quality of the regional cherry and got together with several producers and founded "Cooperativa Acatenango". My mother Ericka Melendez then took control of the administration in 1980 after my grandfather's passing. It's important to denote that she was the first lady in the area who administrated a coffee farm with success. Lastly in 2008, my mother and my father, Mario Rene Alarcón Aguilar, decided that it was time for me to take the administration. My name is Mario Ricardo Alarcón Melendez and I'm the 5th generation to oversee the farm. Due to my major (Mechanical Industrial Engineer), I took the duty to design a wet mill that would improve the coffee quality. Using the best machinery and with a simple and efficient process. Currently the farm has more than 5 varietals of coffee and 3 different processes, having wide variety of flavor for our worldwide clients.

El Xalum / La Revuelta

Before - 1820: The farm was part of a larger hacienda called, Belen, in the town Pampichin.
During the late 1700's and early 1800's Pampichin was abandoned

After the Guatemalan Independence - 1821: The Jesuits sold the hacienda to Doroteo Samayoa and the area became to be known as Belen. At the time Belen produced Nopal (Cactus) and after a process it would become black ink, used for tinting cloth and it was exported mainly to Europe.

Late 19th and early 20th century: When artificial black ink was developed the hacienda was no longer profitable. We started switching to other products like panela, cattle, and the introduction of coffee.

End of 1950's: The owner of the hacienda Margarita Samayoa (daughter of Doroteo), conveted the hacienda into one of the largest coffee plantations in Guatemala.

At the end of the 1950's: Margarita decided to inherit her nephews and nieces, one of htem was Carmen, who then inherited Christian who founded Finca El Xalum and Finca La Revuelta.

miramundo

Blanca Morales de Acevedo bought the estate Miramundo in 1989 with her husband Carlos Acevedo, when they decided to sell a family inheritance to continue the tradition to cultivate their own crop in the region. The property was a rustic and wooded land, with unspoiled soil and a breathtaking view, hence its name Miramundo (translated to english, Watching the World), as it is located at the highest mountain peak of the place at 1,600 meters above sea level. The estate has a cold and cloudy climate and is in the village San Nicolas of the municipality of Esquipulas, the department of Chiquimula; in the east of Guatemala. The goal was to plant 2 hectares of coffee every year until reaching 10.5 hectares with different varieties of coffee: Red and Yellow Catuai, Sarchimor, and Anacafe 14. The estate has 2 hectares dedicated only to forest, where it is preserved at the peak of the mountain. The piece of land has four water births, these allow us to have the wet mill process; with two septic tanks, this way the rivers or water births are not contaminated. Giving the farm an environmentally friendly vision.

Las cortinas

My name is Iris Gonzalez de Valladares. Coffee cultivation has been a tradition in my family since 85 years ago.
When my father visited Las Cortinas for the first time, it was love at first sight. He acquired it at the begining of 1990's, but unfortunately he passed two years after that.
Since that time, I became in charge of running the farm and decided to study agronomic engineering in order to do it right. Every step we take towards improving our production fills my sisters, my family, and myself with a lot of pride
In 2015, we decided to invest in equipment to process our own coffee, which we usually sold in cherry. We appreciate your trust and support in the first years of this new dream.
The property has 90hectares of land. 20% is planted with coffee, a smaller part with avocado, and most is dedicated to forestry projects in order to protect our water springs.
The farm was named Las Cortinas (which can be translated as curtain) after some tree barriers that were planted in the past in order to protect coffee trees by breaking the strong winds that blow from November to February. The trees used for this purpose are called "Copalchi" (Coutarea latiflora).

La bella

Cultivating coffee is an art that requires skill, dedication, and time!
Experts have recognized Guatemalan coffee to be among the best around the world. La Bella has obtained the best quality to satisfy the requirements of the consumers. Its quality is influenced due to the strategic location and processing. It is located in a subtropical climate surrounded by forests in the heart of Las Minas Mountain Ridge.
During four generations, the skills of planting, growing, harvesting, and processing coffee have been handed down to each member of the family. This is why the location, altitude, and process influence in taste, aroma, and acidity. Perfection, La Bella's generations have been seeking throughout the years.
At La Bella estate, soft washed Arabica coffee is processed, planted in two shade canopies for preserving the environment and wildlife diversity.
Processes are implemented to save energy, water, and waste management of coffee such as solar dryers, water recycling, treatment of used water, and worm compost process for the management of the pulp.
Continuous improvement of its employees is sought with training, medical assistance, improved housing, and services, to have an integrated development of social and environmental responsibility.

Tretto Caffé started as an idea at the end of the year 2009 sipping on a delicious cup of coffee on a very cold winter day. "Why, if we produce such amazing coffee, are people enjoying it back in Guatemala?" It took a year and a half for that idea to become a reality, we opened a coffee shop in the little town of Antigua Guatemala. The name came from ristretto, which is a shorter and more flavorful espresso, we just got rid of "ris" and left "tretto". We used the strong image of the phoenix to show that even in the worse case, our passion and love for coffee will always come back from the ashes.

We opened the coffee shop with a mission, to show Guatemalans and citizens of the world how wonderfuly amazing Guatemalan coffee is. To show them the wide spectrum of aromas, flavors and sensations that Guatemalan coffee produce and all of the complexity that can be found on each Guatemalan coffee region.

In 2015 we focused more on working with farmers and we closed the doors of the coffee shop to do so, later in the year we merged with Truth Trading Company and now we are focusing on offering you the best
roasted coffee we can find, so you can take the Guatemalan coffee experience to your own home, work space, adventure, etc. and we will continue on focusing on quality and showing you how great and wide Guatemalan coffee is.
PBi’s Bulk Bags are clear plastic bags that protect dry agricultural products from moisture, oxygen, and external contaminants.  It is designed to be used as a liner in an outer jute or plastic woven sack and closed with a twist tie.

The amount of available moisture in food products is a major factor in controlling the growth of bacteria, yeasts, and molds.  PBi’s Bulk Bags help protect dry agricultural products from drying out and from absorbing moisture from the atmosphere around it.

Oxygen in the atmosphere promotes rancidity and can cause loss of important flavor components. Oxidation can result in the development of off-flavors which give products undesirable sour or bitter tastes.  PBi’s Bulk Bags help protect dry agricultural products from excess atmospheric oxygen.

Products shipped and stored with other food products with strong odors or non-food materials, i.e. petroleum, chemicals, etc. can absorb odors and off-flavors from those materials.  PBi’s Bulk Bags help protect dry agricultural products external flavors and odor absorption.
